I made the attached file, which includes dates at Ridge, ORP, Pacific Raceways and Spokane Raceway high performance driving events. The file does not include car control clinics or skills days.

uploads/1635/2012TrackSchedule.xls

http://www.pnwhpde.com/ usually has a list of all high performance driving education events in the region, but nothing has been posted there yet for 2012.

Just had a quick question about the test and tune days. Do you have to have a race license or anything like that or can you just show up and drive?

No race license required.  Only requirement is that you need to be signed off for solo (by PCA or BMWCCA or any other club).

You attend to HPDS/HPDE events with PCA or BMWCCA.  You start with Group D (novice, always with instructor), and after couple events you can usually move to Group C (low intermediate).  Again, after spending couple events with an instructor in Group C, you can be signed off solo.  It obviously depends on your skills.

I suggest you to take at least 1 skills day with PCA (if you haven't done such thing before).

Also, I suggest at least 1 day doing autocross.

Going to a HPDS/HPDE event with no previous experience is not a good idea.  I've seen people with 911 Turbo's doing 5mph (exaggerating) through the corners.

You can register for these events at motorsportreg.com

I just signed up for the 6/22 BMW CCA car control clinic. I'll be there in the 330i but will definitely say hi if I see some Minis at that event.

Second what Erhan said.
The test and tune days are generally high class (A, B or high C) drivers - not recommended for newbies. On the spreadsheet I uploaded, in addition to Porsche Club and BMW club, Hooked On Driving offers beginner run groups with instructors.

There's a lot of events this year and hope to see you out there at one or more of them!
We've lost a few MINI track rats recently and need to add to the ranks!
(Martin: sold MINI and is racing BMW E30 3 series on the Pro3 circuit; Greg: Sold his MINI and got a Boss 302 Mustang)
