Greetings:
 
For the last 30 years, the MG Car Club Northwest Centre has hosted the Tulip Rallye, an automobile  tour of the Skagit Valley region of Western Washington State.  This year on April 21st, 2012, the rallye starts in the Mount Vernon area, but you never know where it may take you from there. Through colorful tulip fields, windy country roads or scenic shoreline drives, it’s everything you need for a beautiful daytime tour of the region.
 
We have designed this event so that each car club, with a minimum of five cars entered, will be eligible for a first place prize to be awarded to the top performer within their club. Individuals not associated with a particular car club will compete in the “open” category.
 
The Tulip Rallye is intended to be a fun event.  It’s not a time/speed/distance event, but a light hearted gimmick rallye with trivia questions written into the tour guide.  It’s fun for the whole family.  Some clubs now make this rallye their April driving event.
 
There are restaurants along the tour route, but they are often very crowded, so we recommend that you pack a picnic lunch to eat along the way.
 
We look forward to your club’s participation in the 31st Annual Tulip Rallye.   For your convenience, we have attached the entry form.

I hope to make it again this year. 
By the way, each person/car expecting to attend this event should send in their own registration form and payment. The Tulip Rallye people will figure out which people belong to which club to determine which awards should be provided.

Drove out to Anacortes last weekend and it looks like the Swinomish Casino is building a highrise hotel. Don't know if it will be finished by April, but if so it will make a nice over-night stay for out of towners attending the rallye.

A slight change I have noticed from past years is that my check for registration and a T-shirt has now cashed.  For the past couple of years it's usually been at the end of March.  I like the change because now my checkbook balance will be a little less screwed up for the next few months, but also it means I haven't got that extra $27 in there to help me though to payday.

Yes, we will attend. My husband (Brad)N I just attended the Poverty wine festival (Our first with the PSMini club)and had a great time. I M very willing 2 give up the OT now 2 attend as many Mini events as possible.

I just mailed my registration today along with the $12 fee to participate. This will be my fourth Tulip Rallye. I can hardly wait!!WooHoo

Do we have a headcount yet? I'm hoping to see a loooong list of MINIs attending at the top of this thread. Who's with me?

For those new to the club and to the Tulip rally there is a great PSMINI Tradition involved in making a grand entrance to the rally staging area.
 
!.  We all meet up at the Smokey Point Rest area.  There are usually a couple of convoys from the South End and the East side to get to Smokey Point.
 
2. After pit stops and a little socializing we convoy to another staging area on the back side of the Cascade Mall.
 
3. When we all have regrouped, we drive single file around to the Freeway Side of the mall where the Rally staging area is. 
 
4.  We usually park together as a group and then go to the registration area to pick our rally packets. 
 
It really is a lot of fun and part of participating in the Tulip Rally.

I would like to nominate our PSMINI Super Rally Team:  Bruce (VALVASHON), Stacie (MINIMINT), and Elliot to be the leaders of this year's Grand Entrance.   (They have been the MINI Tulip Rally Winners for the last two or three - or is it more? - Years.)

Thanks Jack- for starters Elliott sits this one out due to the distraction factor.  He enjoys his weekend with Grandma whenever we do this.  Second, this is a big honor from the club!  I seem to remember that we did OK last yearand the year before that but the first couple of years we didn't do well at all.  I guess that means we will have to be on time this year!

I put in my registration and will be bringing my son to navigate. This will be my second year. Unfortunately I had let my PSMinin membership expire last year, but this year I am with you all.  The only thing is I am coming from the north in Lynden so will have to meet you there at the staging area at the mall. I hope the t-shirts are as nice as the were last year.

This is the plan that has worked for the last few years:

Meetup at Smoky Point Rest Stop (about 1 mile after Exit #206) at 8:00 AM. Depart Smokey Point at 8:30. Convoy up to the Cascade Mall Exit. Cars will get separated at the off ramp and going thru the traffic lights - don't worry - we will regroup on the back side of the mall before we head around to where the rally starts and everyone will be waiting for us. When you get there you need to pick up your registration packet and attend the drivers briefing.

Notes:

We'll meet on the truckers side of the Smokey Point Rest Stop so we do not take up all the car spaces. Park to the north of the truckers area.

People planning to convoy north from points south will need to agree on meetup times and places that will get them to Smokey Point by 8:00 - 8:15 so we can be organized for an 8:30 departure. This is the thread for making those arrangements.

I am nominating Valvashon (Bruce and Stacie) to lead the convoy from Smokey Point and the Grand Entrance to the Rally.  They have been the most successfull of our ralliers and are the brains and organizations of the Return to Stone Henge event.  Big contributors to making the PSMINI Club successfull.

If you want to use a FRS Radio for communication, the club uses channel 7-21.

Again, this should be the place for questions and comments about the Rally Meetup and Convoy Plans.
