There was something on the news last night about them changing ferry fares and that cars would be charged for how long they were. Maybe MINIs will go for half price  Carole

I think I could do that. And it does seem to make sense to charge cars based on size, why should we pay the same as a bus or truck/trailer when you can fit 3-4 MINI's in the same space?

You don't pay the same as a bus or truck/trailer. The base fee is for a vehicle 20 feet or under and the driver. Then you have to add on for passengers. BTW, for those who don't want to pay the ferry fare, you can drive to Anacortes and walk on the ferry (much less). Then once you get to Friday Harbor, you can get the San Juan Island shuttle that stops at the San Juan Vineyards (I think the fare is about $5) - check it out here: http://www.sanjuantransit.com/index.html I often walk on and take the shuttle to Lime Kiln Park and leave the car at Anacortes. My fiance, Brent, and I just moved to Seattle from Phoenix, AZ and have joined your club so that we could meet some new peeps and explore this beautiful city. We would love to join you for this San Juan Islands event but would like to know some more details. Where will we be meeting up and what time? Also, I saw that it was 30.00 to enter the car show, is that to exibit or is it an entrance fee? This seems to be a show put on by another organization who posted here as a courtesy invite thing. Since nobody else has posted anything about a meet-up to (get on the ferry and) go, feel free to post about where and when you'd like to meet others interested in going.
Be aware that the XXX show about a month later in Issaquah will be better attended, as the entrance fee is lower and it's a MINI and Mini specific show, and there's no ferry fare to purchase to get to Issaquah. However, the San Juan Islands are beautiful and well worth the trip especially if you are a recent transplant to our area. Welcome to the club! Bruce |

I live on the island so I can't really help with the drive up however if you are planning to come up allow plenty of time for the ferry. They get busy really quickly during the summer. I would say about 1 hour before the ferry leaves.
Driving down to South Beach is beautiful and the west side of the island is great too.

Looking for information on where / when to meet. Looking forward to a drive to San Juans.
Looks like their is a 9am ferry (I know, kinda early) that leaves for Friday Harbor direct and arrives at 10:05. Departure looks good at 2:15pm and arrives at 3:50pm (Sunday only route) giving plenty of time on Island and get's us home at a good time. thoughts?

Just talked to the wife. We're going up Sunday morning to catch the 11:55 Ferry to Friday Harbor. After arriving at San Juan island at 1pm we'll go straight to the show, spend about 1 - 1.5 hour there before driving off to Roche Harbor and a tour of the island. We plan to be back in Friday harbor by around 4:30pm to put our car in queue for the 6:30 ferry back to Anacortes, then head to a near by eatery to have drinks and dinner before hopping on the ferry. All up, we plan to be home by 9pm.
Considering we need to be in line for the 11:55am Ferry for Friday harbor by about 10:30 to be safe, we'll likely just take freeway from home to Anacortes - saving our driving fun for the Island. If anyone wants to meet for some b-fast, we're open to a 8:30 b-fast somewhere in or around Alderwood (we're coming up I-405, others may be coming up I-5). Suggestions? Todd.
