I'm headed to Elma this next weekend to visit my mom, wondering if anyone knows any fun roads in the area should I decide to do a little driving while I'm down there.

Thanks!

We did a fun route last year around the Kitsap Penninsula and there are some great roads!  I wrote the following before I realized you were talking about drives while you were down there rather than a route to get there.  Oh well, maybe there's something you can use.  The W. Belfair-Tahuya and Dewatto roads were really great!

I don’t know how much time you want to take and whether or not you’d want to take a ferry, but there are a couple of Destination Highways routes you could tie into.

If you go across to Hood Canal, take the bridge and then 104 to Thorndyke Road to Coyle Road (N) to Dabob Rd and then take Center Road to 101 and head South until you hit W. Cloquallum Rd (just south of Shelton) and head West.  It eventually becomes Satsop Cloquallum Rd and you can take it to Middle Statsop Rd.  Then south to Highway 12 and east back to Elma.

You could also head through Bremerton and pick up 3 to W. Belfair Valley Road right outside Gorst.  Follow that down to where it becomes NE Old Belfair Hwy.  Pick up 3 to 106 to 101 and then you could take the W. Cloquallum Rd route above or continue down to 108 to 8 and into Elma.

Another option would be down 101 to 108 to W. Elma Hicklin Rd which becomes Elma McCleary Rd – not as many curves but an alternative to 8.

Now my disclaimer!  I have been on some of these roads (DH sections of this route) but not the others.  I don’t know what the roads or traffic are like or whether any of these are even a good idea.  I would hate to steer you wrong.  Maybe someone from the Kitsap Penninsula can chime in and let you know more info.  First decision will have to be how long you want to take to get there….

Cheers!

Well, actually, this works too as I'd love to find some fun roads on the way there as well.  Any/all information is appreciated, and thank you!

Edit: Awesome, I think I'll take 5s down and up towards bremerton, then your second suggestion down and around.  Will be about 2 hours shorter than the first suggestion, so if I leave early enough, will get there right around when mom wakes up =)

Thank you so much!

Had a great drive down last weekend, missed a turn somewhere, but still had a great trip down.  Thanks for the information/suggestions!
