Had Winston in the shop (NW Mini) week before last, under warranty, due to engine light coming on yellow, and car was hard to start each morning. I was told that the Mini had an Engine Miss-fire. They had the car over a week and had one recall (shorten "hot" muffler") item to fix as well. This wait for valve cover coming in from UK... was not a problem as I had a Mini-S loaner. They had to do some computer work on Winston and replaced valve cover. Got Winston back and for a week no problems and now this morning the Yellow Engine light came back on after it took four tries to start. Has anyone else had this problem or heard of it? Thanks if advance for your posts... |

Check your #3 Spark plug wire on the coil, they tend to corrode and will cause the misfire. I would actually check all of them.

May I also suggest going over to NAM and under second gen manufacture issues you will find several stickies one on yellow lingts and cold start problems.

Good call Dave on the coil connection. Knew the issue, but couldn't remember the cylinder number. Also couldn't recall if that was addressed somehow in second gen MINIs.
