Has anyone studied this feature in the Garmin at all?

I'm trying to find out if there's third-party software somewhere to create your own tour guide files.  This would be a boon for MINI outings.  A tour organizer could dictate commentary and instructions and save them as MP3s, put them on however many SD cards, create the TourGuide route in their *.gpx format with all the key path points defined, and supply them to the group leader, tail, and others.  When you motor close to a proximity point, the associated MP3 plays.

I don't know if that would override the standard voice prompts or not.  "In point two miles..."

Hmmm... just found something...

...and edit again...
