All,

I have had a number of people who have asked about posting pictures or resizing pictures for posting so I thought I’d create a thread on it. Hopefully this helps some with the process.  I am by no means an expert and there are tons of ways to do this but here goes…

IMAGE RESIZING

Most PCs have a Microsoft Office Picture Manager.  If you don’t have this program you will likely have another like it but the steps will vary.

  1. Find the image on your PC (or save it to your PC) and then right click on it.  Scroll to Open With à Microsoft Office Picture Manager.
  2. Once the picture is open select Edit Pictures… (Red arrow) which will open the tool bar on the right hand side.

  1. From the tool bar on the right select Resize (Red circle) which will open a new tool bar on the right.
  2. From this toolbar you have a number of options.  You can select a predefined width x height, Custom, or Percentage of the original.  To keep things simple I’d recommend selecting the Predefined width x height (blue circle).

  1. Select Web – Large (640x480px) or Web – Small (448x336px) and then hit OK.
  2. Last step, save your work.  Go to File à Save As and name and save your file to your PC.

POSTING YOUR PICTURE

  1. While typing your response to a post or creating a new post you will see this window.

  1. Select the Image Upload button (red arrow) which will pop open a new window.
  2. In this window hit the Browse button.

  1. Find the picture you want to post on your PC (where you saved it to in step 6 above) and select Open.
  2. In the image upload window you will now see the path to the image in the Image: window.  Select OK.
  3. This window should appear.  Hit OK.

  1. Once you do this the image should then be embedded in your post on the board.

I hope this is clear and simple enough.  I wasn’t quite sure which forum to put it in so if Admins want to move the post, have at it.

Cheers!

Todd

The simplest tool i've come across to resize images on Windows (XP) is the ResizerPowerToy tool

You can download it from the following link:

http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WX P/EN-US/ImageResizerPowertoySetup.exe

The link is from:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppow ertoys.mspx

After you install the powertoy binary, all you need to do is right click the image you want to resize and select an appropriate size (resolutions range from 640x480 to 1024x768) and rename the resized file if you wish to.

This is of course an XP powertoy - i am sure a Vista equivalent exists but Vista, i avoid like the plague

Cool!  Thanks for the lesson on image posting and resizing.  Maybe now I can put the faces of members with their ID name as well as which MINI they drive.  Thumbs%20Up
