Topic: Any private pilots in the group? Posted: February/03/06 at 1:32am |
Just wondering if any of our fellow motorers are also pilots. I'm thinking of persuing my private pilot's license and want to bend someone's ear.
My dad flew when I was a wee lad, his dad flew most of his life (even worked for the CAA, now the FAA, at the Redmond, Oregon airport). It only makes sense that I should go for the license to carry on the legacy...that, and the fact that it really intrigues me.
My father-in-law is a pilot, flys a Bonanza A36, and is considering getting his instructor rating, which could be a bonus for me.
Anyway, let me know if any of you out there fly those little planes.

I highly recommend it. One of the best experiences of my life was flight school, and i wish i could do it all over again. I currently fly cessna 172's and 152's but one day i hope to get my own plane (as soon as Tweety is done moding her car, which i'm sure isn't any time soon). I did my training at Harvey Airfield in Snohomish, using the cessna 152 (because it was cheaper). If you are serious about learning to fly almost all flight schools offer an introductory flight, and the instructor will hand over the reins and let you fly the plane alittle. There is a lot to learn, but it is a very rewarding experience, and I looked forward to every lesson.
If you have any questions let me know

I got my license at Boeing Field about 10 yrs ago. Not active right now--can
only afford one or two expensive hobbies ;) . I recommend learning at
Boeing; great instructors and it's one of the busiest airports around. If you
can fly there you can fly anywhere. Good luck.

Josh and Daniel,
Thanks for the replies. I've got a couple books from the FAA on their way to me. The next outing I see either of you at, I'll come over and bend your ear.

Good luck with that, sounds like fun. I got a book once and thought about getting my license as well... never did it. I am not sure if it is too late, but I am sure the cost is higher than when I was thinking about it.
On a side note, are any of you pilots willing to take passengers on short trips? Maybe it will spark my interest again
