Well my worst fear has happened. When backing up, my mother didn't look behind her and didn't see Zippy, grazing the mirror and the whole side of the car. There is a big scuff on the blue paint, but the feather has irreplaceable damage. So it looks like Zippy will soon be featherless :(

There are no dents, but the paint is pretty chewed up. The chrome on the door handle is bubbled up. I am hoping by some miracle just the clear coat on the wing is scratched up. It was some custom graphic done in arizona...
It is the same side as the other dent, only the A panel wasn't touched this time. I am at work but will get some pics of the damage up this evening! I hope they can somehow salvage the wings, but I doubt it. I have been a mess all day :( My mother said she will pay for repairs. That better include a brand new set of graphics! |

The door damage sounds sound non-repairable.
I have a set of door handles that I bought, hoping to black them out, but never installed.
You (your mom?) can have them super cheap if you want. |

Do you have a wider angle shot? The damage on the artwork looks like a scuff more than a deep scratch/gouge. Maybe the door handle took the brunt of the damage.
It appears somewhat worse below the artwork, but that is regular body color and might be easier to repair. To my eye, all of that roughness looks like bumper material from your mom's car - I don't see any obvious signs of severe paintwork damage. I'd be happy to take a look tomorrow; after that I'll be out of the country until Feb 8... Edited by CORNERS - January/27/12 at 10:29pm |

Sorry to hear about Zippy. It is hard to tell but the scratches on the art look like it might just be the clear coat and the scratch in the blue looks likes rubber or plastic smudge. Hopefully you will be able to fix it without much if any paint work. If you do need parts you can't find on here there is a junkyard parting out 2 Minis on Craigslist.

Thanks Kurt--wish I had time to stop by tomorrow but I work all day :(
I am hoping just the clear coat is ruined on the wing, but who knows. Judging by the blue streaks on her truck it's kind of a weird angle she hit at. I will try to get a wide angle shot of it tomorrow if I can clean it up a bit to see better.
When I get back from Hawaii I will take him down to Haury's to see what they can do

Sounds good. Use some polishing compound or bug/tar remover and that should remove most of the superficial stuff and let you see what actual damage is there.

I'm hoping it won't be too costly or time consuming to fix. From what I can tell from your pics, it doesn't look too bad. However, I know you must be upset because I sure know I would be if I were in your shoes. Mistakes happen... It's too bad it was family that did the damage. Somehow that seems worse?
