I have a ScanGuage which may allow us to read whatever codes are being thrown. Otherwise it's to the dealer or an independent. The brake sensor could be a problem with the ABS system.

You didn't turn the car sideways did you? No CEL but _a lot_ of other lights went on when I had my car on the Monster Mile oval in Dove DE. The MINI was really was not happy with 24 degree banking.

What's changed or what was the last thing you did/had done and when?

humm, that ScanGuage could be useful!
Btw the service engine soon light it's now off.. ugh

The brake light came on on the highway at 70mph or so if that matters.

Last thing that was done to the car was the rotors and it was done probably 3 months ago at Kurt's house.
We cut the brake sensor by mistake but we welded it back together and it worked fine since. It maybe this, I dunno. It seems fine to mo though.

Stefano

Did you replace the wear sensor?
Did you reset the wear sensor in the computer?

Some searching, and I don't know the R53 all that well, if the sensor was not replaced it will eventually trip even though you have new pads. You can basically short the sensor so it never trips. Either way, the sensor still needs to be reset in the computer now that it has tripped.

If you simply want to reset the light try this but it may not work if your sensor actually does need to be replaced. I hope someone with more knowledge than I can help here.

2002-2006 R50, R52 & R53 Cooper, Cooper-S and Convertible (through 08):
1) Turn ignition key to position-2 (ignition on, without starting engine) for 30 seconds.
2) Turn key off, then back on. Warning should be reset.

The sensor was replaced with a new one last year with the new pads.

I'm gonna try the key thing and let you know.

Thank you for your tips!!

The other thing to check is the wiring and rotor sensor to the pick up for the ABS system.
If everything seems under control, you're just not going fast enough.

Sounds like the symptoms Jo's car had when a wheel speed sensor went TU.  You can replace this but it won't work until the car visits the dealer's computer.  Pat

well i guess it's fair though, 79K and it hasn't had a problem.

So, the only thing that I can do is going to the dealer, right?
