Here is the info below. Would like to know if any have an interest in a tune . I already know El Chupa and Red Hot Mini are interested looking for 6 to 8 more.
Talk or PM those who have done it.  Average HP gain is 10--17 HP. smoother power band and better milage. 2002-2006 R 53 $350.00     2007-2010 R 56 $500.00  plus dyno 100hr.
Looking at May or June time frame
First I would like to thank Jan for his knowledge and philosophy about the tuning and the parts he sells. To give a mini owner a fast and dependable car. I would like to thank all who participated. It was great meeting some new people and also seeing some of my mini friends I haven't seen for a while.
Here are the results.
Minirox 188.5whp to 205.9whp  17.4 gain(injector/super chrger issues)
Doccyber 185.7whp to  204.8      19.1 gain
Chili         187.4whp to 198.5       11.2 gain
Fizgig       212.1whp to 217            5.3 gain(Belt issues)
EBMC03   189whp to 201.4           11.4 gain (injector issues)
Rob Betts  190.4whp to 200.4        9.2 gain
Bahawton  217.3whp to 225.0      13.8 gain
Slyderone  201.5whp to 213.6       12.1 gain(boost issues)
Jasper        172.3whp to 202.3       30 gain
Corners    224.8whp to 244.3         19.5 gain
Largest gain Jasper 30whp
Most WHP 244 Kurt of course, I see him smiling in china ear to ear.

I had to take a step back by removing my header, I'm holding out for a Milltek header with cat now so I don't deal with that damn CEL/SES light.  No tune until that's done.

Nice gain guys. I'm jealous, can't wait to get a tune hopefully we can get Jan up here again. Anyways you guys take care. By the way I have seen many MINI's over here "Down Under" and seen a couple of old fixed up classic mini's. And I didn't have my camera or camera fon on me. Ok, cheers

I am still in China and haven't driven the car since the tune (Erhan took the car down to get the tune for me), but probably not. I had been spinning my Dunlops Starspecs a lot as I have been running them during the winter due to lack of a cold weather all season tire.
So I probably need a limited slip differential next (I was hoping to put that off until my clutch goes out) and a set of non-summer tires...

Your car is too new, I think. Others can confirm, but I think that the 2011 and 2012 R56 is not yet crackable.

I'm looking at running down my DW's on the 17's, replacing them with the Bridgestone 970AS, and putting DW's or another summer tire on the 16's I got from Roy.

May or June work so much better for me.  Keep me informed, I have to upsize my injectors so this would work for me.  I would just have to bring tools to do it right before the tune.
I am in, will this be a pre-pay event like the most recent one?

As many know. I did a tune recently and had issues with my car. The injectors were not spraying properly and the cam mini-madness sold me was crap. I purchased a RMW cam and injectors and remote tune. Installed this weekend and the car is impressive. Roxy was reluctant for me to do the work. Because after the tune the car ran so smooth. Well, had her take it for a test drive. She came back with an ear to ear grin and said she was glad that we did the repair. The car still is smooth and is considerably quicker. I mean considerable (pulley install X 2 minimum) RMW is the way to go

If anyone out there is on the fence about signing up and/or thinking they need to "pimp" out their MINI to get a tune I would say you are wrong.

Everything on my MINI is stock, only upgrades I have is the JCW engine and suspension.  Would you see more gains if you upgraded, most likely yes - I'll yield to someone else who knows more about MINI's to talk to this.  But the take away is you can do a tune with no upgrades and you *should* see gains.

I saw the most gains in the last tune, I may not be the fastest in the group but my MINI feels like a different car to me, thus satisfying my need to change cars for now.  Something to keep in mind if you are thinking about tuning your car.

Thanks,
Jasper

Good point. Oh, and if you go the tune-only route, the car will still sound stock - that's good for resale value! (Something I long abandoned)...

Thanks,

Roger that, I think you've got me sold, i mean 30whp on just a tune is insane. My only concerns would be with warranty issues(Since I did pay extra for the CPO). Does anyone know how Seattle or NW Mini feels/deals with ECU tuning?

Don't take this as absolute truth, but my understanding is that a tune could void a warranty if it can be reasonably assumed that the tune could have caused the failure.

As an obvious example, an engine tune would not void warranty for any braking, body or power steering problems, but may be questioned if you have any engine or power train issues.

A positive attitude is helpful for cases that are less clear-cut than this example.

ALAS you snooze you loose.

To all I am afraid the odds of getting Jan back anytime soon to TUNE are slim to none. He has joined up with the Bacardi  RUM BUM Race team. He will be streached thinner than he already is. Race season begins in Mar and ends in Sept.. I will no longer pursue the scheduling of a Jan tune. I have done my upgrades and am doing a remote tune next week.
 Thanks Mike

I just took my MINI in for repairs related to leaking oil and the spontaneous bursting into flames recall at Seattle MINI - all repairs were unrelated to the tune.

My car is out of factory warranty but some of the past repairs still fall under the "MINI repair warranty."  If they fix something they slap a 2 year/unlimited miles warranty on that specific part - see dealer for more details as I don't have anything in writing.  I'm guessing wear and tear is not covered, the part has to fail due to defect.

Either way, one of the fixes involved a part that they fixed about 1.5 years ago while I was under the factory warranty.  The same part failed so they went ahead and fixed it for free.  I came clean and told them my car was tuned two weeks prior to my appointment when I checked in.  My main concern was they would wipe the ECU.

I have heard it varies from dealer to dealer so you may or may not qualify for warranty repairs if you get a tune.  Jan did advise me I could buy a tool to revert my MINI back to original settings before the tune prior to going into the dealer.  The tool can be used to re-upload the tune after you leave the dealer.  Sounds like you are going to have to buy this tool for the remote tune as a previous post indicated Jan won't be visiting for a while.

On the other hand I had to shell out around 1K for the other repairs so maybe that bought some good-will or they could have let me slide because they sense I was drooling over and/or considering making the move to a Countryman.  Or maybe the folks at Seattle MINI are just nice people...

The warranty repair would have been added about 300 bucks to my bill.

Thanks,
Jasper

Well, you only had the tune on the car for two weeks and it is also possible that the part that needed repair was unrelated to tunes.
You may have had a different experience if the tune was on the car for several years, there was evidence of abuse, evidence of poor maintenance, the part was directly affected by the tune, or you had a bad attitude.

That, and Seattle MINI are nice people too. :-)

What part was it?
