Great turnout for a very worthy cause - FUN too!  Great pictures James - lots of beautiful cars and some semi-attractive Porsches...   Every one who participated gets a big THANKS - especially Greg, The Seattle MINI Organization, and a very generous Porsche / MINI owner.

Awesome turnout. I was pretty surprised.
Greg and Larry mentioned it could be several days before we know the result. Based on the Porsche turnout, I'm a little worried!

Just received this from Larry with Porsche:

Greg,

I would like to thank you and the members of the Puget Sound Mini Motoring Club for a fantastic event.  I think both clubs can be very proud of the way the members stepped up to support our community and to help our neighbors.

I look forward to working with you next year and many years to come to make this bigger and better each year.

Sherrel and I wish you and your family a safe and happy holiday.

Larry

GREAT STUFF!!!!!

Cheers!

Ok, here's the video footage of our 7 and a half minutes of fame!

This video contains three segments:
First segment aired live at about 6am.
Second segment aired live at about 730am.
Third segment was recorded and broadcast at about 1230pm.

Some video is courtesy Jack and Linda, who had the foresight to record the show.

Thanks!

$3425Wave, that is amazing for such a small club.

Kurt, you were a brave sole to take two very active children along on the ride without a co-pilot!  Kudos!!!

Somehow I missed seeing JohnF.  I had questions for his creative mind.  I hope his trip across the Pass went OK.

Someone there had a water injection intercooler.  I forgot his name but that install was VERY CLEAN!!

Stefano, I forgot to tell you that your Italian Flag hood scoop looks even better in personThumbs Up.

The traffic getting to Marymoor Park was horrific!  I would suggest that we all meet up at Marymoor Park next year if we attempt to go along with the Porsche Club again.  We could also just meet at the Red Robin in Redmond (shopping center parking lot) and then all drive through the Food Drop Off Point together instead of Porsche, Porsche, Porsche, Porsche, Porsche, Mini, Porsche, Porsche, Porsche.....

Stephen

My copilot is in Japan with our daughter. So my choices were 1. Take kids or 2. Not go. :-)
They were not naughty so things went well.

Interesting comment about traffic. I was the tailgunner for Group 1 and the only place we had any significant traffic was the construction area just north of Seattle MINI. I guess we got lucky.

We were in Group 2, which seemed to find some pretty congested areas, but being a country boy it is all congested!

Kudos for the Childcare!  Your Co-Pilot should be proud.

I don't know who Mark is but what a generous display of good will donating a big CHECK on behalf of Mini to NW Harvest.

That was Mark A. He's a great guy and very active in the car community. He drove up from Gig Harbor in his Carrera GT to join in. Very down to earth. He also has a great collection of Ferrari's and Porsche's and daily drives a MINI Cooper S.

I'll pass along the thanks Clap.

James, sorry we didn't get a chance to talk, saw you but--------great pictures!!!!!!

Wanted to personally thank Mark----------when talking to him I asked if he'd ever taken the Carrera GT over to Alex @ Max RPM, since I saw it there one time. Sent Alex an email to forward to him. He said he had a Mini & that's why he elected to support us. Pass along our thanks please.

Also heard from Diane and she sent a link from Eastside HOG. Mini's are shown but only briefly. Someone needs to dress me better, the hat is a little off center!!!Smile

Dan Hallett (Eastside Harley Owners Group) sent me a link to the video he put together about their food drive work:     http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yOLFV4Ce3Vc

His comments to me yesterday were: “It was a fun day, with your groups being a major highlight of the event. I got a kick out talking with my 2 wheeled friends about how exciting it was to view others who are passionate about their vehicular addictions and so willing to give to those in need. Thank your members for such a grand gesture. “

Enjoy

What a great event.

That said, I am very mad at myself.  After going to Costco on Friday and filling Alice with food etc, as I was driving home I realized that my employer has  a matching gift program. I immediately went to the site only to find we only match cash gifts not cash spent for gifts donated.  That means, my donation could not be matched leaving a fair pile of charitable change on the table.

I won't make that mistake again even though it was really fun watching bags of grocery's being unloaded from very expensive cars while piles were being unloaded from MINI's.

As this is looking like an annual event, we need to keep corporate  matching gift programs in our sites as we gather stuff.  While some do not have this available, it is entirely possible that many do and, it is after all a dollar doubler.

Actually, as I think about it, you should check now.  You can probably still get it for this donation if it is available.

Getting anxious for the results!!!! Emailed Matt Campbell @ NW Harvest to see if we can get results. Haven't heard yet but I just have to believe that we won!!!I'm really really hoping we did!!!!!!

Think we had more cash and from the cars I saw, looks like we had MUCHO FOOD DONATIONS. Even if they had 30 more cars, our Mini's hold more.

Does anyone have an EXACT count of the Minis? Someone said 38 but I'm not sure that's right since Ernie, Blk/Blk 11 JCW, got there late. Think he had a pretty full boot!!

Rob N. good point on matching donations from employers. Should keep this "PRIVATE" don't want to give the Porsche crowd any free advice.

Cheers!

If you showed up in a MINI at around the same time, I think they put it into the correct gigantic box.
I mentioned something and the guy who took my food indicated that it was going into the MINI box.

I got out and brought my food over and they had me put it in a box at the end that was almost completely empty. I have 2 boxes full of food, so I don't think they counted it Angry.

Oh, by the way, the "MINI" box where they put my food was near the end (near the exit), on the right lane of the queue. The Porsche people were putting food on the left side.
