I thought I had lost a b&w pic off a website of me in a racing moment but I found it over the holidays, contacted the photographer (Doug Berger @ www.digitalracephotos.com) and finally bought the image. I have to share this with you guys.  A little background.  It was a Doernbecher ICSCC race at PIR 9/26/2004.  I was racing in Group 2, G Production chasing down a soon to be lapped racer (and this was before I got the MINI set up dialed in) going down the front straight, braked, downshifted twice to second, stabbed the throttle and turned in to the apex of the chicane when, HOLY CRAP (that's not what I screamed at the time but this is a general audience) this stupid Fiero loses it right in front of me after I had chosen my line through the chicane.  It didn't slide off into the infield like I wanted, he came to a dead stop right in front of me. Thank God MINI put all wheel disc brakes on their cars!  As bad as it looks, WE DID NOT TOUCH!!!  So, without further ado, and Martin, don't let this happen to you, go ahead and click on the link and enjoy!

This was the closest I came to hurting my beloved MINI until Labor Day 2006 when I slid into the Jersey barrier at Mission avoiding another spinning car (hoser, cheesehead that time) and modified my passenger side door handle, huh Les.

5 race wins, 2 in the rain. 2nd in ICSCC G Production Championship 2005 and 2006. Now I'm just gonna drive the MINI.

Quite a picture - glad you gave us the background!  Driver reaction probably did more to avoid contact than the disk brakes.Drive

The three cars so close together must have been a bit scary!  You were the sole MINI in the raceUnhappy and there were many Miata's, yet pt109 (oops, I forgot that got sunk) hp109 must have gotten the adrenaline flowing.

I agree with Kurt, a video would be excellent to watch!

Speed Limit, 186,000 miles per second, Its the Law!

At the time I was more concerned about getting suspension parts instead of a video setup.  In 2004 I was turning 1:40's at Portland and in 2006 I was down to the 1:37's so there was progress after getting the set up closer to optimum.  How fast do you want to spend?
