Entrance fees to Mt. Rainier National Park are waived on September 24th.

Perhaps a good excuse for a drive and picnic at the mountain? Wink
'05 Chili Red Cabrio with Blue Canvas. White Bonnet Stripes. Side Flames cut out of the Union Jack pull together this R/W/B color theme. "SHAGGED" on the License Plate.

A Mt. Rainier drive is a great idea, but there may also be a drive on that day, preceding our annual MINI show at the Triple X. Last year, we went on a SAMOA-led drive on the Saturday before our car show. Just a heads-up - haven't heard anything about a car-show drive yet.

Looks like there won't be a Saturday drive put on by SAMOA. so this would be a great opportunity to get out and go to Mt. Rainier!

I did that drive for the first time last weekend during the H&R wanderlust and it is an amazing drive. I had the only MINI and I would love to do it with a bunch of other MINI's.
It's not what you drive but how you drive it.

Don't mean to be negative but last year, Larry and I went for a drive up to Rainier and it turned out to be a free pass day and they wouldn't let us in because there were too many people there. But you could plan a nice drive to and around Rainier without going into the park.

I suspect some planning is still going on here.  Watch for more details and we'll try and make sure info gets posted.

We went on this drive and the Free Day is a zoo!!  There are so many people that you can't see anything or park within miles of Paradise.  The photo taken by ChiliPapa shows Paradise off in the distance and keep in mind we were parked as close to Paradise as possible!

I'd be game for a drive, but I don't think we'll get anywhere near the Visitor's Center because of the crowds. Maybe we could picnic elsewhere in or out of the park? What about Mt. Saint Helens or is that too far? ...or maybe a road tour around Mt. Rainier?

I'd love to take a drive down to Mt Rainer, however, I'll be having surgery on the 21st :(  I tore the meniscus in my right knee, so at present I can't even drive Little Baby Vroom Vroom. Yesterday was her one year birthday, and I could only look at her from my bedroom window. Hopefully, I'll recuperate quickly and can back behind the wheel :-)

Carole:

We hope your recovery goes smoothly and little Baby Vroom Vroom is back in action soon!

Fast healing to you Carole... I hope all goes well and you're back on your feet in no time. I've had 4 knee surgeries in the past 6 years, so I can relate. Hang in there....

I guess the drive isn't happening tomorrow. Let's hope there's a drive after the PSMINI car show at the Triple XXX Rootbeer Drive-in on Sunday.
