Cancelled/Not Happening This is a non-event. Not happening this year.
See more details in my follow-up post at the end of the thread. Would you be interested in a Detail Day before the Triple-X Car Show? The Detail Day would be on the 22nd (Saturday before the Sunday car show). It would be hosted about 5 miles from Triple-X which is very convenient for anyone coming into Issaquah Saturday for the show Sunday. What happens at Detail Day? - Wash your car <- might be very useful if coming in from out of town. - Ask other MINIac's about detailing (like removing small scratches, what is a clay bar, etc.). - Maybe try some new products. (ever clayed your car? It's fun. No, really, it is!) - Put your hands on a random orbital! - Others? Give some suggestions. This will only happen if the weather cooperates since it will be outdoors. We need a show of hands for those interested. This is how you let us know you are interested. 1) Provide a brief description of your goals. Something like "I just want to wash my car." or "I've got a small scratch, tar, dirty wheels, etc. I'd like help with." or "I like watching people wash their cars. Can I just come and watch?" 2) What time would you be arriving? 3) Would you be able, willing, and enthusiastic about helping others? 4) Are you able to bring your own product, buckets, other supplies? (water will be provided) Please answer the above questions either by posting here or sending me a Private Message. I'll compile up the answers and determine if there is enough interest to make this an event. I must have answers back by midnight of the 16th; the weekend before Triple-X. I'm interested but I might have to leave my MINI there so it doesn't get dirty going back home and back up to the show! I might have to contemplate on this.

Good point Leanne. Overnight parking for a limited number of cars should not be a problem. Of course, you'll be parking at your own risk as there is no security on duty.

If everything seems under control, you're just not going fast enough.

It really depends on how many cars are interested. We can start early and go all day if needed. Otherwise, if it's only a couple people, we'll figure out the best time once I know who those people are. If we do get a lot of interest I'll assign time slots so when you arrive you can start work immediately. There is room to detail about 4-6 cars at a time. I'd be interested in participating...my MINI is still pretty new so a quick wash, polish and maybe a few minor blemishes to deal with.
I say that now, but once I get into it I could end up taking a toothbrush to the undercarriage but I know my fellow members would intervene if necessary

After much discussion with PSMINI we decided to cancel/postpone this detail day. We will work on putting together a detail day that coincides with XXX for the 2013 season. This gives us more time to plan a much better detail event then what was coming together this year. I'd like to see this event be successful and become traditional and this year it wasn't going to be such an event so I decided to cancel. I do apologize if this caused any inconvenience.
We are working on a plan for a detail event in the spring to help get us out of the dreaded winter. More details on that in a few months. See you all at the XXX and again, sorry for having to cancel this one. |

Also, if I have totally fouled up your XXX plans because you didn't detail your MINI last weekend thinking you could at this event please PM me; we'll work something out. Thanks
