Hey folks. As you can see I am new to the club and seeking some expert advise.  I cant imagine this hasn't been brought up in the past.

When I am accelerating I get a vibration in the steering and front end primarily 2nd and 3rd gear and while cruising I feel a slight surge or inconsistent increase/decrease in the engine like fuel?

  • I have a base R50 with 157K. It has been lowered by means of aftermarket coils.
  • I have replaced the clutch and pressure plate(needed it).
  • Both CV axles (resolved clunk when shifting)
  • Replaced all motor mounts except Transmission(they had all failed)
  • Rotated tires(no change).
  • Verified all the ball joints and tie rods are tight.
  • No play in bearings.
  • Not throwing any codes.
  • The plugs appear to be burning clean.

It almost feels like she's running on 3 cylinders and reduced power. Doesn't seem to be present in higher RPM's??  I am getting ready to send the injectors out for rebuild next.

I am running out of options and cash$$$$$

Any direction would be greatly appreciated.

You may have something going on with engine but lowered MINIs can get vibration from the drive axles.

If you are noticing a loss in power, this sometimes can happen due to burned valves. Starts out as a minor inconsistency in power but will eventually throw a code.

What is considered an acceptable compression range for a non-S??
