PSMINI Family Day Picnic - 2nd Annual - Event Date: August/22/10

************ Rain or Shine the Picnic is on!****************
The picnic is located at Thornton A. Sullivan Park / Camp Patterson, 11405 Silver Lake Road, Everett, WA  98208.  Map to location.  We will have the big field up and to the left of the swimming area near the big parking area.  You will find a gate off the parking area that we will mark so you can drive inside.  Oh, if you are a party of two or more, you can take the Left Hand exit to the park-n-ride at 112th, exit up the ramp and turn L at the light and then R at the next light and be right by the park.  The pre-picnic drive starts at 11:00 from Frost Doughnuts in Mill Creek Town Center.  Plans are for the drive to conclude at the picnic location by 1pm for festivities there.  If you aren't doing the drive, you can feel free to join us at the park anytime.

Time again for a Day In The Park with your MINI friends and family.  Linda and I are hosting the 2nd Annual PSMINI Family Day Picnic at Camp Patterson at  Silver Lake Park.  This is a low key event - no drives (ok, maybe a short little one before the picnic), no competition (ok, maybe a few to show your skill level....), just a chance to kick back, savor a potluck picnic lunch, and enjoy being with others who are as MINI crazy as you are!  

Set aside Sunday, August 22 - it will be a fun day!

We will have inside the fence parking on a grassy area for our cars, a private sheltered picnic area with a huge bbq grill, electricity and a prep sink - covered eating areas, lots of space, our own restrooms, swimming and boating activities for all ages, and a big playground for the kids.  The area is ours from 9:00 AM until 10:00 PM

A couple of caveats, due to the rules of the Everett Parks Department.  Because it's a public swimming beach, I'm afraid pets must sit this event out.  Also, we'll need to stick to non-alcoholic beverages.  (Who needs beer when you have MINIs?)

	Feel free to bring kayaks, small boats, etc., anything you can fit in on or behind a MINI. We've also discussed the possibility of doing a 'drive-in movie' with popcorn, but we're concerned that it might not get dark enough soon enough since sunset is not until about 8:10 and we have to be out by 10pm and some of you have a ways to go to get home. We do have 3 shelters there in addition to the big field. We can play games, etc., so put your thinking caps on. We'll definitely do the MINI slalom (doesn't look right) races again, so bring your RC cars! Kelly and Dave Chrisman have already volunteered to help and we're looking forward to it! 	Kelly & David say it's great having an event in our area of south Everett. We thought it would be cool to start off at 11:00am at the Frost doughnut meetup and go for a "Mini" drive out and about so we can be at the picnic together at 1:00pm. Maybe some "In It to Win It" game show activites just for the fun of it. (Ever try to stack 3 golf balls in one minute?) Be there... or be somewhere else not as fun! PS- who is that Mini photographer guy in the Mill Creek area that had an idea for a doughnut drive before??

	I think last year someone kind of facilitated the pot-luck menu so we didn't wind up with 23 flavors of potato salad - Linda and I will be out of town for a couple of weeks so we are kind of looking to Dave and Kelly to help coordinate - I know they will appreciate any volunteer help that people want to offer.

	I have volunteered to head up the food portion of the family picnic!! This year the club will be sponsoring the hamburgers and hot dogs. We are asking that those that are coming bring some sort of side dish to share with the group and your own beverages. 	Wayne's Mom and Dad will be in town from Spokane. We'd love to make it but unsure if they want to join us. Can you put us down as "tentative"? BTW...we haven't dropped off the face of the planet. We're repainting the kitchen cabinets and doing some remodeling. Need I say more? Should be done by the time the in-laws show up next week (I HOPE at least) so a weekend picnic with MINI folks sounds like a lot of fun.

	Thats great Beth. We have hotdogs and buns and condiments to bring. We will be glad to lead the Mini drive when folks meet up at Frost doughnuts at 11am. We will print out maps with directions to follow, just in case. Goal is to be back at park by 1pm to meet everyone else at the picnic. Assume most folks will know how to bring something to share for the potluck, right! The sugar buzz from the doughnuts will be worn off by then! We saved some of our supplies from last year, so we have you covered for plastic silverware, plastic cups, napkins, and some of those food warmers - the metal frame and some disposable foil trays that sit down in them. I don't think we've got any more fuel burners, but we could pick some up. Also, if I recall correctly, Anne & Martin took home some of the decorative stuff to reuse at another event. There wasn't much, but it may still be floating around (included small cones for rc-mini races). I'll check with them. Lastly, Fred (Pixel) did a really cool flag, but then wasn't able to make it to the picnic last year. I'll be he still has it. I'll check with him. See you in a couple of weeks!!

	Hello One and All Can one come if I yet to join your club? I recently picked up a old classic mini and live in the Mill Creek area and can't decide if I should join the PSMINI club or the SAMOA. But I've been told I can join both groups. I am also still waiting on car insurance as I would love to show up at your event with my new baby and introduce myself.
