Still here and getting ready to take the long way home via Portland.   Staying at Dinty's Inn.   Two other Mini's checked in as well.   Furniture looks a bit dated.  But clean rooms, 2 comfy queen beds, great price ($60), and nice manager.   Free wifi, fridge, microwave, DTV, and free coffee at there Market/Deli.

Thank you for coordinating this event.   My daughter and I had a great time.

Also thanks Ed for those nice psmini badges.   They look great on bbm.

Drive home safely everyone.  I hope to see you all again soon.

Thank you Bruce and Stacie for organizing the awesome pilgrimage BowDown

IMPERIAL PILGRIMAGE TO STONEHENGELOL

MARYHILL, Washington ---- Imperial Guard joined historic Stonehenge pilgrimage with the elite members from Puget Sound MINI Motoring Club (PSMINI), 22 May.

The annual pilgrimage, affectionately called “This is Return to Stonehenge”, was made by 31 MINIs from Washington’s premier MINI motoring club. The title refers to a mix of British iconic themes - from the MINI motor car, Stonehenge in southern England, and 1984 rock musical documentary “This is Spinal Tap”.

“This pilgrimage was a full course British meal, only thing missing was some tea and crumpets with a side of spotted dick pudding for dessert,” said Cho Cho, Imperial Guard Mini Cooper Open-Top Wing Commander and Ambassador of British Pleasantries (ABP).

The full size American Stonehenge was built by Sam Hill, a road builder, as a memorial dedicated to the soldiers of Klickitat County who lost their lives in World War I. Built from reinforced concrete on the original Maryhill town site, the monument became the nation’s first  “The War To End All Wars” memorial.

“We came, we saw, and we took lots of pictures of MINIs,” said Tombo, Mini Cooper Open-Top Tail Gunner and MINI Stonehenge Pilgrimage Expert (MSPE).

Also on site were the crew of Silver Cabrio Cinema (SCC), filming scenes for the next PSMINI video and “We Don’t Need no Stinking Badges” staff, testing the new all-weather Mark 2 motoring badges.

Puget Sound MINI Motoring Club is the leading MINI motoring club of Washington State with over 200 members. The Guard is the furry-faced, tail- waving staff corp members of the Puget Sound MINI Motoring Club.

We had such a great time at this event. We really wish we could have stayed for both days though. On our way home we happened to catch up with 'johnf36' so we had a buddy for a little while. Can't wait for the next drive.

Ok I'm protesting the burger answer on the quiz. I just counted again. If your ONLY counti g the menu items that specifically have the word burger, it's 13. If you count everything on the burger menu plus the few on the other menu it's 20. If you count the big miner and miner double, but not the rest on the burger menu that does not specifically say burger, it's 17. ;)

Phew!  I'm kicking back collecting my senses after such a historic pilgrimage!  It took awhile to pry my grip loose from the chicken handle after Larry got done on the Loops Road but what a blast!  Even with the cooler weather and cloud cover the rain still stayed away and we really had a great time.  Sorry that I didn't get better acquainted with everyone!  Ed, thanks so much for the work you did on the badges.  They are really cool.  Bruce and Stacie, you managed everything with great precision with such a large group.  I was very impressed by how we arrived at each destination on time!  Had a lot of fun at the dinner even though I think the restaurant had a little trouble handling our crowd this year.  Anyway, our pictures will be forthcoming and really look forward to seeing everybody else's pictures.

Thanks it was cool running half way home with you, wasn't paying attention then out of the blue you guys showed up. We took it slow coming back through the mountians , to many deer on the highway total count was 11 and I did care to wear one.

We just got home. Took 97 to HWY 2 then to 5. We saw several deer as well but not anywhere near  11. Glad you avoided a front end adjustment.

THANKS BRUCE, STACIE and ELLIOT! What a great event!

Thanks Ed for the all weather badge. It held up well through rain, snow and mild sun. It also deflected a few bugs with no problem!

I will get some photos posted soon.

Back home safe and sound as well.  Driving home with an open header for four hours was audible torture and left my head ringing but it was still worth itSmile.  We had a blast and thanks again for a fun event.  On a side note, I also passed several deer in the same area, one came out just a few feet from the car, glad I didn't hit it.Shocked

Hey James don't feel bad , when we were asked for Original Mini paint colors not used on the S models. To me that was a huge list, because very few of the Original paint colors are used on the new mini's. Does any one know what same colors have been used on both the Original Mini's and our BMW Minis?

Thanks for moving everything over to the feedback thread Linda.

We actually reversed the route out on Saturday today with the hopes of driving Canyon rd again, but when we hit the exit for Hwy 821 on I82, it said Hwy 821 was closed?????? Cry

We ended up cruising up I82 to I90 the rest of the way home.....

Back from a great weekend. What a turn-out and a great group of folks. Enjoyed seeing some many new faces and getting to hang out with old friends. The trip was well planned and executed. Well done Bruce, Stacey and Elliott! The Loops drive was awesome! That is one grippy, twisty little road! Processing pictures now. Also have some good in-car video to process as well. After the run today we headed over to ORP to watch the racing. That was really awesome too! They had a great turnout and was cool to see all of the car haulers and the setup at the track. Great weekend!

That much fun should be illegal!

Thanks Bruce, Stacy, and Elliot for showing how to organize and lead a very successfull event - what a team!

I have no idea how many pictures were taken over the weekend but I hope people figure out how to upload them and post links so we can see all of them.  (I would suggest a max of 5 - 10 pictures per poster here since so many people will want to post pictures).

WOW!!!!

Elliot, Stacy, Bruce.... THANK YOU!!! BowDown- Clearly you put a lot of time & planning into this. Everything was smooth as clockwork. Thumbs Up

And - thanks to a GREAT group of people. I don't know anywhere else you can find sucn an amiable and energized crowd. Thanks for welcoming the newbies Smile.  And I especially appreciate the 'embrace' (both figurative & literal) after my visit with the police. Drive

We had a small convoy part of the way home: Two Clubman JCW's & "Yeababy". Great great roads leaving the area. Our trip back was through White pass - which was absolutely beautiful and relatively uncrowded.... More great roads WooHoo

Thanks again to everyone! We're looking forward to seeing the pictures.

Hi there!

Steve and I are still on our way home (Yes, he's driving while I peck on my BlackBerry). We ended up having lunch further west in Hood River with Sticky/Steve and his girlfriend Charyl after the Maryhill Loops Rd. drive (what a hoot!). After lunch we walked around the town and did a bit of wine tasting. Then with our tummies quite satisfied, Steve/Sticky and Charyl headed towards home in Olympia, and Steve and I drove further west and checked out Multnomah Falls.

What a gorgeous area! I decided to take advantage of the dry weather and convinced my hubby Steve to go on a hike with me to the top of Multnomah Falls (2.5 miles RT). What spectacular views of the Columbia River Gorge! Anyway, about the time when we figured we'd better get moving towards the car and home (Graham/Kapowsin), we were greeted with quite a downpour! Thankfully we didn't get too wet as we made a dash to my MINI. To our surprise, we found out we were tagged with a "You Were Spotted" PSMINI card belonging to minicommittee (Chris & Mary)!

Earlier, while at the beginning of our hike up to the top of Multnomah Falls, Steve/Sticky was kind enough to call and tell us to avoid Hwy 205 because of construction, so we went back east on Hwy 84 for 13 miles and went across the Bridge of the Gods near Cascade Locks and then took Hwy 14 west to I-205 to I-5 with no delays (thanks Steve/Sticky). Again, what beautiful scenery (around the Columbia River).

Thanks so much to Bruce, Stacie and Elliott for such a fun weekend! We were impressed how smoothly the cat herding went. The directions were clear, concise and accurate. Lunch and dinner were tasty and reasonably priced. Ayulta was a little slow but they didn't do too bad although Steve/Sticky and his girlfriend's dinner order was somehow lost. I heard their lunch order at Miners Drive-In was lost too! All and all, we had a blast and we will be looking forward to next year.

Thank you to everyone who contributed towards a good time...
Brenda and Steve (Steve518)

P.S. Thanks to all who have posted photos and feedback. Keep them coming... Photos coming soon when I get home and have a chance to unload them off my camera. We're due to be home just after 10 pm. Thankfully no deer seen on the roads. My apologies if this post was a bit long-winded... I was bored while on I-5.

Sarah, Patrick, Shannon and I would like to add our thanks to all who helped organize this event and helped it run so smoothly. Although Ayulta also lost Shannon's dinner order, I think they did a great job with the size of our group. The kids loved stonehenge and the observatory. We actually got to see Saturn through the telescope outside (rings included). They were sooooo excited after that.

I have 430+ photos to sort and process. I'll get them done as soon as possible. I'm headed out of town Wednesday evening for a wedding, so it'll be before then. Probably won't be as much post processing this time though......

Great pics! Love the curve of MINIs. And is that peacock!   Currently editing the video to a manageable 2:30 to 3:00 min clip, will be out soon. Going to need help with MINI name identification again, I counted 31 MINIs leaving the exit. The Guard is still down from the pilgrimage! They didn't sleep at all during the run and missed a full days worth of naps watching all the MINIs on the road LOL. Thanks all for a great time.
