Topic: Thoughts/Get Minis Interested? Posted: January/29/06 at 6:43am |
I did not take the opportunity that I could have had yesterday at Porters. I would like to know if anyone has any suggestions that might help me bring Yakimamians into the group. I have left many Spotted Cards and am wondering if I should write something on the back of the card.
Any thoughts from you Extremely Smart Mini's?

bluemini,
You might try to organize a small satellite meeting, for all those YakaMINIs
who feel the distance to the rest of the group is a bit far. To build up some
interest in owning their car try writing (on the back of the ‘spotted’ cards)
that you will be having a ride (in the Yakama area) on XX date and any one
interested is welcome. That’s the best I’ve got.
Cheers,

get a budy in the police department and find out where they live from
their license plate... then you can stalk them until they join

I've considered the "personalized" aspect in this area, even. Such as putting my screen name on the backs of the cards. That way there is just that little bit of additional connection. Sort of a "hey, I was soptted by phydeaux" first post. Give them something to say the first time, if they are the lurker type.

It was a pleasure meeting you and your wife at the detail clinic.
You will find not all mini owners are as passionate about there cars or want to go driving with perfect strangers. Yes we are a strange lot. We drive around with a grins on our faces, We are ready to share why we are grinning with anybody who asks. We drive through rain storms to find out how to clean our cars. Which we washed before we went driving in the rain storm. We ponder on what MINI mod, bobble or accessory we or our mini need. We look for the roads less straight and the long way home. Be patient they will come. Just keep posting and carding minis, and before you know it, you will be motoring with more perfect strangers on the eastside of the mountain. I hope we do the DAM run again this year Day,George and Coulee.

PS.As fido said personalize the card with your handle.

If you wanted to organize a Yakima drive some weekend after the snow melts, I'd bet a lot of us would come over the hill. A string of 20+ Minis are hard to miss and might inspire some of the other Yakima Mini drivers.

Thank you for all of the encouragement! And I love the DAM pic! wow......As for a drive to Yakima, that wouldn't be fair. All of you would get to drive while I was stuck here. I know, I'll drive over to you THEN I'll drive back over with you
Actually, that would make some sense. Maybe some time this up coming summer PSMINI makes a trip into Yakima. We would really get noticed then!!! The wheels are turning!

Hmmm, maybe a Yakima winery tour. Might be interesting, or dangerous. I should start saving money now. ;)

Hummm, lets think about this one. Alot of Minis, alchohal, & a bunch of DUIs. I'm thinking that might be a bit risky. Think about the Mini's now. What would they tell you about that one?
Actuallly, I was thinking about it earlier and wanted to know what everyone's opinion is about Blue Berries. My father-in-law owns/runs a 1.5 acre You Pick Blue Berry Farm and maybe sometime this summer everyone would like to make a trip over here during the season. It is alot of fun and it only costs about $1.50 per pound.
Just a thought, who knows. This doesn't even have to be the Yakima Event.

I wasn't thinking that we would be drinking all of the wine during the drive. I just know that when Deanne and I visit wineries, we tend to come home with a few varieties (for later consumption, of course). Look at the Leavenworth drive, where we came home with a half case. :)

Greetings -
We're new here - we pick up our 2006 MINI Coope S tomorrow. I am thinking of suggesting a "Yakama The Hard Way" tour for the spring. Northerners could do the Highway 2 / highway 97 over Stevens and Blewett passes and then through the Yakama River Canyon. Southerners could do Highway 12 or some other non Interstate route to Yakama. We could meet somewhere for lunch and a MINI show and shine - and hopefully have some of the Eastern Washington MINI owners participate. If anyone seems interested, I'll make this suggestion in the Events Forum...

That does not sound like a bad idea. This would definately bring out some of the MINIs in hidding.
