Have we picked a meeting spot in North Bend yet?  As I recall, last year's rendezvous spot was Mickey D's.
Forget my past; it is my checkered present you need to worry about!

From North Bend, what's the route in WA and ID or OR?

I'm in Oly and would rather meet you somewhere along the route--may take 5 to WA-14 in Vancouver and drive through the gorge...

Hi Dori

My first suggetion is for you to use the post options at the top of your first post to edit you first post on this thread and use it as an ongoing list. This way you don't have to type everybodys names multiple times.

Count us in for the Tues departure.  May I suggest that we leave a half hour earlier. We have an 11 hour + drive and we lose a hour due to time zones. We got in about 8 pm last year. Any other suggestions??

We go down through Yakima and Kennewick. Then down toward Pendalton, OR.

There are plenty of places we could meet you on the way.

Hi Dori

Thank you for your work on this and Happy New Year to you and yours. As for the tip, you will soon find that I hate to do work twice (or three times, etc.). There isn't a help button on the website LOL so we all have to be a lifeline to each other.

Like last year, it will be a lot of fun and we are looking forward to it.

Hi Dori

Exchanging cell phone numbers is a good idea.  PM sent.

I agree with Karin that it would be a good idea to leave a half hour earlier.  This first leg is a long drive, and there will probably be some weather along the way.

Thanks for coordinating this thread.

Is this a non-stop drive to Vegas or are you all stoping overnight somewhere?   If Stoping then what city and what hotel?

Hi Amman,

Quite a few of us we'll be spending Tuesday night (March 24th) in Jackpot, Nevada at Barton's (775-755-2341).  I made reservations for $43.21 (two queen beds).  Use the code word "PSMINI" for the discount.

The next day (Wednesday) we motor into Las Vegas together.  Here's a link to more info about AMVIV (A Mini Vacation In Vegas) here on the forum:  http://www.psmini.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=4304&PN=1

We'll be staying at the AMVIV host hotel in Vegas called the Palace Station on March 26, 27, and 28.  I'm not sure where we'll be staying on the 25th and 29th.  I plan to leave towards home on Monday the 30th with a few group of MINIs, and others will be returning home on Sunday.

I hope this info helps...  If you have any questions, don't hesistate to post them here.

Cheers,
Brenda & Steve

Dori has the following books on tape if someone would like to borrow them for the drive to vegas.
Nora Roberts- Chesapeak Bay CD Collection - 4 books 14 disks about 15 hours
John Grisham- The innocent Man
James Patterson- the Cross
John Grisham- the appeal
John Grisham- the King of torts (this one is good)
Lincoln Child- deep storm

first come first serve- I'm not bringing them with me unless someone asks to borrow them.
email me off list dori.tate@comcast.net

I LOVE books on tape (or CD)!  That's a great idea and when I get home from Memphis I'll post my list.

I don't have an 8track!  I was just commenting on how I said "books on tape" when really they are "books on CD"  Wacko

Yes, I have an 8trak and it goes really well with my fuzzy dashboard and groovy new seat covers.  And right now i'm checking into having my Clubman made into a lowrider!

3 Questions:

1.) How many hours is it from North Bend to Jackpot, and then from Jackpot to Vegas?

2.) Also is everyone on this wagon train taking 2 days to get to AMVIV, or are there anyone going there straight?

3.) What's a good walkie talkie?  Boeing is giving a walkie talkie as an award.  It's a 15 mile, 22 channel, rechargeble NIMH batteries, GMRS 2-way radio.  Is that good enough?

1) 650 miles and then 450 miles.  Hours depends on the wagon train and how much coffee certain people drink.   Usually, it is about 9 or 10 to Jackpot and then 6 more to LV.

2) people have done it in the past but I am not sure if anyone is doing it this year.

3) yeah, 15 mile is great.  We have the lesser, older 5 mile variety.

Thanks for the info on the drive.  I was wondering approximately how many hours it was from here to Jackpot and Jackpot to Vegas.  Wow, it's not that far away before we leave...WooHoo

Also, I have a couple of Cobra walkie talkies.  I think they have a 15 mile range (flat terrain) and they seem to do okay.
We can loan one to someone for the drive down to Vegas.  Oh... and don't forget to bring the charger to re-charge them in Jackpot and Vegas. Wink
