Had a great time participating this year.  Great seeing all the MINI's and Mini's that showed up.  Meeting up at Smokey Point was a lot of fun as always and sure is impressive when we all come in together.  Loved the run and enjoyed all the lovely scenery.  Did have to leave early though so please let me know all the results.  WooHoo

What a great day, another year of misleading horrible clues and all for $12.. I couild have won I know I could have.. All kidding aside, The Mini's armada decended again in force showing these other car clubs how it is done... seriously had a great time and loved the rallye as usual...
Thanks to the MG club for putting on another fine rallye..

That was a great time!
I met some cool people and got a few waves on my MINI iPhone app LOL
I did not get to talk to as many people as I would have liked to, crowds overwhelm me sometimes... but I think I need to just go up and start saying Hi and introducing myself.

Now that we know the style the questions and how they work I think we will do better next year.

I loved checking out the other MINIs and the other cars!!!!

We (my hubby Steve and I) had an awesome time as well! This was our third MINI Rallye with the MG Club and the Tulip Rallye just keeps getting better and better. I appreciate the fact that it wasn't as long this year. It was nice to finish at a fairly reasonable hour and have time to sit down and eat lunch with my MINI friends. What a wonderful day even if it wasn't the sunniest weather and that there were very few tulips.

I'm looking forward to seeing the pics people took today (too bad my camera recently went defunct). Ed (Silver Surfer) - I'm looking forward to seeing the video.

We are still on the road towards home as I peck on my BlackBerry phone. We had our own little tour of Whidbey Island on the way home including a ferry ride to Mukilteo. I will post more later. I hope you all had a safe trip home. See ya on the next MINI outing...

Cheers,
Brenda (and Steve Fromhold)

P.S. Congratulations to all who participated today. You're all winners in my book! Dori - I wish I knew your secret on how you always do so well with the questions. It must have been that third set of eyes!

Debby and I had a BLAST! Sorry we had to bolt early, my dad was available, so we went to visit him in La Connor. Traffic was ZERO this year! Awesome! Wish we coulda seen the results, but ah well. You guys can fill me in! (What the heck was that "sleep on it before you buy"??) LOL Thanks you everyone!

Rallye was as good as last time we did it. We decided to spend the night in Anacortes, and are enjoying it.
If you ever decide to stay here, I highly reccomend Anaco Bay Inn.

Did you go to the Brown Lantern?

Anders and I stopped by there on the way back home.
It was good and the space is cool.

We didn't, but we ate at Il Posto, the food and atmosphere are great. The manager is also very interactive with the customers.
We talked about cars for a bit, he noticed all the nice cars around town. The conversation originated by him asking if the MINI outside was mine, and led to the Tulip Rallye.
Will get some submarine sandwiches for lunch from a shop I saw during the rallye. I can't passup the opportunity to find a greaat sandwich.

Great time yesterday hanging out with everyone. I loved all of the fields of "green" tulips! I had never seen such a color! LOL I believe I counted 48 MINIs at one point so it was an excellent turn-out as ususal. Always love the reputation we have gained at that event and the excellent shirts Pixel created only cemented that reputation! Nice!

Even though we didn't stay very long seeing that number of MINI's/Mini's was fabulous!  We sure showed them didn't we?  Eddy and I had a great time just being able to film all that were there.  Eddy kept telling me to stay at the speed limit while he filmed everyone as we passed...tell me, is that really so easy as it sounds?

It is too bad that there weren't too many tulips but it was nice driving around (Tombo only got sick once).  From the very beginning we were doing awful but oh well...we still had a good time even if we didn't stick around for the whole thing.  Eddy will have you believe that it was my fault we ended up at Seattle Premium Outlets...he was a terrible navigator!  There were absolutely NO answers there to any of the questions!

Has anyone ever eaten breakfast at the Corner Cupboard (I think that's the name) in La Conner?  Good food!

Thanks to the MG club for a great time and it was wonderful seeing everyone and meeting several members that were new to me.  The T-shirts are fabulous!  See you all at the next one!

Thanks and great job from everyone at PSMini and MG and of course Kevin aka Ratsbag. I hope he will be back next year.

I must give my thanks to David aka Navigator for letting me try to tell him where to go.  He was amazing at listening, driving and finding all the clues.
As always It was so much fun seeing all the mini's and meeting and greeting everyone. The Tulip T-shirt was great design (yeah I knew I wore it backwards) thanks Fred and Eddy aka Silver Surfer for the tulip rallye badge and DVD.

Great that this year it was shorter and less traffic. On to the next event.

Great Tulip Rallye!!!  Thank you, MG Club for another fabulous event! BowDown

At first I regretted not making it to Smokey Point, but in the end I was rewarded with a thrilling sight I'd never experienced before! Waiting at the Mall with SELENE and ZIPPY (nice to meet you both!), in came the long, colorful, adorable, and spectacular line up of MINIs! What an exciting moment that was to see! Tongue  MINIs RULE!WooHoo

THANK YOU PIXEL for the  Fabulous T-shirt! Thumbs Up   THANK YOU SILVER SILVER for standing out in the cold to video the MINIs (and I'm sure lots of other highlights of the day) Thumbs Up.

THANK YOU CHEETAH for the loan of your radio - thank goodness I didn't need to use it!  Although I almost called in at the very beginning to find out where the heck Whitmarsh Road was! Unhappy

We'll start by posting our score: -4 (should have been -3) with a total mileage of 59 and a total time of 2:28.

Post your score! And please tell us how you got half a point.

Our score should have been -3 because, as with 2 other rallyers we spoke to, they marked question #7 wrong when we actually put down the correct answer (C) to the mirror question.

The "Sleep on it before you buy" question (#27) was in the wrong place on our route - it should have been before the direction to turn right on to 32nd.  Dream Realty is at 1202 Commercial Avenue, so it probably should have been right after Ana-Cross Stitch, in the middle of that list of questions. Lessons learned for next year: when you're totally stumped, go back to the previous route instruction and work from there.

Here's a pretty good picture of the group getting off the freeway on the way to the mall:

After that we don't really have any more pictures.  It was all business for us, baby!  We had fun, stayed calm, and managed to shave 2 hours off last year's time!!  This is a not-to-miss event for us.  Thanks to the MG Club for putting it on.  See you next year!

Genie, those pics are fantastic! And some are just incredible! WOW! Nice work!
I'm already thinking about next year, as it is the "Big 3-0" for the Rally. It would be nice to do something of a "tip of the hat" to the MG club. They are always so great, letting us participate. I hope all the "noobs" had fun! So great to see new folks out there!

We like the idea of showing our appreciation to the rallye organizers.  I don't know if you're thinking about a trophy or plaque, or something else, but I've always thought it was funny and ingenious that he stands on a ladder to be seen.  Perhaps that's something that could be worked in to it.  A great thought from Pixel.

Thank you MG Club and PS MINI BowDownfor putting together an awesome rallye event, got lots of MINI video! It was a Pass and Review of MINIs (going to need help in putting names to MINIs on the video – similar to the Woodinville parade video). We had a great time! Good to see ol’ friends and lots of new faces and new friends.  AWESOME picturesThumbs Up Genie B! Wow, can I use some of them on our next Newsletter? Pixel the T-shirt design is just Magnificanto! Clap

Sorry couldn’t  stay till the end, as navigator I was fired Unhappy within 1 hour of the rallye. Official firing report stated – “no sense of direction or map reading skills, argues with signposts and road markers, only gargled and spit at the fountain of direction and relative navigation (turning left then left then left is not a right!), easily distracted and excited by seeing other MINIs on the road, one neuron short of a synapse…” it goes on anyway…

I resumed my videographer duties but was promoted to Water Holder Marshall (cup holders were full), wife insisted that the map and directions took us to Seattle Prem Outlet over by Marysville, I waited in the car for while she went to get direction from the outlets stores, 2 hrs later even she admitted that we were lost! I knew that within the first hour of the rallye, now who’s the better navigator! I took over navigator and driving duties and safely NAVIGATED our safe passage home - MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!Approve

You can pick up your scored answer sheet after the rallye and see how you did.  They had them on a table around the corner from where they announced the winners.

Well for our first rallye....we learned a lot.  It definately was great meeting our new MINI friends, seeing all the cars...what a sight as they pull in/out with so many in a row!!  Just made us smile..Big smile

As far as sightseeing...it didn't bother me since I assumed the role of navigator instead of driver...seemed fitting since it's always been my role for our 26+ years together and he's not good at directions, and definately no IPhone skills yet!...Wink  We have no idea of our score...but based on what we can figure...it was probably a -10 or -12! Oh well, better luck next time!  Wore our shirts with pride and I can't wait to sport my here in town too!

After the event we ended up heading down to Everett via a long meandering drive to meet up with our son and his girlfriend for dinner and (too many) drinks...WooHooFinally just got home about 2pm today.

We are so looking forward to next months event and seeing you all again.  Thanks for the use of your radio Chris (NavTech).  We actually realized later ours would work...figures!

You all are so great and love the pride of Mini ownership and in the club...this will be fun!!

Silver Surfer!

You experienced the same thing we did last year but there was a role reversal.  Many beautiful cars, nice people and a very confusing drive.  The GPS saved us from sending up flares!

I officially scored -6, but it should have been -4. My navigator swears if he knew there was a toadie he would have worked harder for that! He had so much fun he is going to enter his Coranet next year. We went back to Anacortes and found the "Dream Real estate" office, then pit stopped at the Rockfish grill, the power of suggestion and all.
Thanks to everyone and if anyone knows how much food was donated it would be great to know.
