Thanks for leading this Calvin! Always a great parade and a great one to kick off the Spring season! Wish we could be there but we will be in Vegas. We will try to send some sunshine your way.
For anybody that hasn't participated in a parade this is a fun one. See the feedback from last year's parade here.

Hey Calvin,

Thanks for doing this one!  After I took delivery of my R56 MCS late Sept 2007 I think the 2008 Woodinville run was one of the first or the first get together with PS MINI.  It was fun. It was the year that we introduced the Zig Zag / Crossover / swap sides of the road parade method.  Hey who would have known that we may have influenced Mini’s choose of words used in their advertisements.

Had fun and will join you again.

I hope this "Green" theme doesn't mean I have to re-cycle something! LOL

Just the use of the color I hope Wink

Cal - You asked me about creating a Facebook Evite.  Do you have an address of where we are supposed to meet prior to the parade?

I'm thinking that Steve and I can make it, so mark us as tentative until I check with the hubby.  Smile

I think the windup keys go well with this theme - maybe we can set up a production line so every MINI can have a key -

I like to attend, however, the theme is my concerned.  Any suggestions on how to decorate the Mini?

Wind up key is great! How about if we had one on every car then every so often we all get out of our cars together and wind the keys, LOL. Especially in front of the judging booth!

Another idea may be to have Gumby with a huge radio control box skating in front of us like he is controling all the cars. We could put somthing on the sides of the cars that looks like a battery that says rechargable on it.

Decorating is optional.  Everyone is encouraged to attend regardless.  So, by all means, you should attend MiniHawg.  It is better to have a dozen undecorated cars than only four decorated ones.  Besides, MINI Coopers are "green" by default, so you're already covered.

In the past, the theme has always been rather vague, open to interpretation, and largely ignored, so I wouldn't worry about strictly following the theme.  It is the All Fool's Days Parade after all, so anything goes.  The crazier the better!  Smile

For anyone who wants to do any last minute decorating, there is a Party City one block from the parade starting point.  Beth and I usually walk over there on the morning of the parade and get some balloons to tie to the car.  Balloons make great, easy decorations.

MiniHawg - decorating ideas, similar to last years Monroe Parade, here's some pic links
Put some designs on the side of the car and a windup key on top and your good to go.

Windup key Mark 1A

Prime mover - I used a battery operated halloween tree stump that had a witch flying around it. Removed the witch and MacGyvered a rotating shaft in its place for the key.
(Chop stick, duck tape, rotating tree stump)

Key - Empty paper towel holder with cardboard wings cut to look like the wings of a key, wrap all in foil.

I put the prime mover and key in a small basket (basket hides the stump, key sticks out and free to rotate), and secured to the car with bungee hook cables.

Note: Small car fans are too fast even at slow speed and Wall clock second hand is too weak and slow to rotate the key.

How do I get off the string of emails I get when I just wanted to sign up for the Woodinville Parade?? PLUS, I indicated 2 people, meaning Kelly AND David Chrisman. ALSO, just list us for NAVIGTR, not silly "super" screen name--maybe let us know how to change that screen name to just to NAVIGTR to eliminate confusion.

I have a "stage size" remote control I used in the Monroe parade to control Seattle MINI's wrapped car. I ran behind the car and Karen drove. The crowd loved it.

I could pass it on for this parade. The longer antenna tends to sell the concept of remote control better than the stubby one.

Please Add GENIE B to the list Big smile

I think the Kent parade last year was a green theme. Several people did recycling themes, but I ended up just doing green decorations - as in the color Green. With St. Patrick's Day around the corner, there's a ton of green stuff out there.

I would LOVE to have a Windup Key! and think it would be great to have all of our MINIs have keys!
